Wednesday, 13 March 2002. I visited the "Dwarf's Cave", or "Short People's Cave", near the village of Paia. A few comments on this:It's dark in there. I had two torches, but I was alone so there was nobody to hold them when I was climbing around. (My guide didn't come in the cave with me, which was what I expected to happen.) It's dark in there. My two torches were barely enoughl it's probably worthwhile to rent the kerosene lanterns that Lonely Planet mentions. You want a group of several people, really. I went along the left fork to the first pool, but it's down what would be a maybe 2.5 meter high water fall if there was water flowing down it; something that would be entirely climable if you had other people to hold the lights, etc. So I only went that far. Note that most of these picures are heavily edited so anything's visible: straight out of the camera they just looked black. The only exceptions (of the cave pictures) are Nos. 1, 6, and 11. It would take a few hours to do properly, with people; if you've got a car then it definitely won't take all day like Lonely Planet suggests.
